Michael Jeffery speaks with John Ive about reducing salinity to produce productive farmland
John and Robyn Ive of 'Talaheni' on the NSW Southern Tablelands have overcome a severe dryland salinity problem to increase available productive land on their property. By reducing the water table levels through revegetating their ridgelines, they have eliminated saline seeps.
Michael Jeffery recognises the success John has achieved in regenerating the landscape as they discuss some of John's innovative techniques.
Read about how the Ives achieved this significant outcome, and the innovative way they have managed their landscape in their Soils for Life case study at www.soilsforlife.org.au/case-studies.html
Soils for Life is an Outcomes Australia project and has principal purpose of enhancing Australia's natural environment with a focus on the Australian rural landscape.
The Soils for Life program supports innovative farmers and land managers demonstrating high performance in regenerative landscape management. We believe their stories (see www.soilsforlife.org.au/case-studies.html) are compelling and can provide confidence for those who want to make a change for the better.
