SOILS FOR LIFE FIELD DAY BIODIVERSITY, RESILIENCE & PRODUCTION

Image of healthy regenerated pastures

Soils for Life teamed with Local Land Services Western Region(LLS) to host our second this field day on Gilgunnia Station. The field day showcased the regenerative practices on Gilgunnia Station and included presentations by Ashley McMurtrie (property owner) on moving from an annual to a perennial polyculture and the importance of ecological capital; Anne Kerle (Ecologist) on pest resistance, rainfall, seasonal response and the oasis affect; Susan Orgill (Soil Scientist) on the value of humus, soil protection and building, water holding, soil biology and decomposition; and Dr Greg Curran (Pasture production specialist and veterinarian) on grazing to a higher succession, leaf area, varied diet and consistent availability.
